How to use the guide
This UK Border Agency guide gives visa applicants information
on how long their applications may take based on recent visa processing
performance. The visa application centres in each country are
listed alphabetically. Processing times are given in working days,
excluding weekends and public holidays. Performance figures are
updated monthly.

Customer Service Standards
UK Border Agency Visa Services staff, and staff at VFS are committed
to providing a high level of service to our customers. Information
on our processing time standards can be found on the
UK Border Agency Visa Services website.
Local Processing Times
The British Embassy in Addis Ababa is currently processing all
non-settlement applications within three working days. However,
if secondary checks are required this may extend up to 15 working
days. Processing time for settlement applications may extend to
12 weeks.
Some applications may require additional processing time if further
enquiries need to be made for example if there is a need to refer
to the Border Agency in the UK. In all such cases applicants will
be advised that their application falls into this category.
Applicants are therefore advised to submit their visa applications
in good time but no more than 3 months in advance of their intended
date of travel.
